Our Windrush Story

Owen and Daniel (founders of Insight Community Project) are descendants of the Windrush, as are many of our staff members and volunteers. Their parents settled in Long Eaton during the 1950's and 60's and were part of a tight-knit Caribbean community in the area. 

Owen and Daniel grew up knowing what it felt like to have a community around them who looked out for each other, which is why they are so passionate about continuing this community spirit and togetherness in Long Eaton.

At insight our work is mainly centred around young people, giving them the best start, building mutual respect between generations and providing opportunities for young people to reach their full potential - just as our community did for us.
